Geo-Structural Engineering and Construction

"Geo-Structural" is a relatively new industry term used to describe both engineering and construction applications that strongly involve both structural and geotechnical engineering disciplines.   For instance, deep foundation piles require both a structural and geotechnical analysis. These interdisciplinary tasks are commonly done by the same firm and require a specialty array of engineering knowledge.

Some  of our Geo-Structural applications include:

  • Urethane Foam Grouting:  Urethane foam is ideal for void filling, as it's lightweight properties do not overload existing subsoils.  The material hardens within 15 minutes of injection and is ideal for heavy traffic loading.
  • Helical Pile Anchoring:   Helical piles provide deep foundation support over poor soil conditions.  Essentially vibration free, helical piers can be installed in very close proximity to existing structures with minimal disturbance.
  • Foundation Wall Repair:  Settling foundations are most commonly caused by poor soil conditions.  Properties in the greater Boston area were commonly built over poor fill soils and can require extensive work to repair.
  • Pressure Grouting involves the injection of a specialty grout into either an existing structure for repair work or for ground improvement.
