Compaction Grouting for Ground Improvement



Compaction grouting can be done for interior warehouse slabs with minimal disruption to the facility.

Compaction grouting is a specialty technology that attempts to densify ground "in-situ", meaning in place.   In general, it involves the strategic injection of a grout into the subsoils.  Mechanically speaking, the grout attempts to displace the soil, thus proving compaction efforts.  

Traditionally, the grouting work was done using a low-mobility (thick), cement-like grout that was injected under great pressures.  

Today, EFT utilizes a patented method of compaction grouting, referred to as the "Deep Injection Method" as developed by Uretek.    In essence, the process utilizes high-tech polymer grouts in lieu of cement grout.  The polymers provide a wide range of advantages when compared to cement and will outperform cement in all compaction grouting applications.    Some advantages of polymers include:

  • Zero sensitivity to the presence of water.  In fact, the material is completely hydro-insensitive. 
  • Rapid set time.
  • Greatly improved rate of injection and speed of work.
  • Stronger compaction efforts due to the expanding nature of  the polymer.
  • Both permeates and compacts the soils, always following the path of least resistance. 
  • No water needed and no washout.  Job sites very clean.
